The Founding of Vietnamese Christian Church of
Jacksonville, Florida
In 1987, when my family first settled in Jacksonville, Florida, we were
faced with a deep spiritual longing—there was no Vietnamese Christian church in
the area for us to attend and worship. Moved by a desire to grow in faith and
community, I began seeking the Lord’s direction and felt a strong calling to
start a church.
With a heart full of hope and prayer, I placed an advertisement in the
local Vietnamese monthly magazine “Tin Thư”, inviting others to a Bible study at
our home on Sunday mornings. That first gathering brought seven people
together—seven souls united in the love of Christ and the Word of God. (7 people then: my family of
4, Bác Hưng, Bác Trinh “Tài”, Cô Thủy)
Week after week, the group grew steadily. What began as a humble Bible
study in a living room slowly blossomed into a thriving spiritual community.
Through the years, God continued to bless the work. Now, after 38 years of
unwavering faith and divine guidance, the Vietnamese Christian Church of
Jacksonville has grown to nearly 200 members.
Looking back, I see clearly that it was the Lord who built this house.
Every step, every soul, every struggle and breakthrough—He has been with us
through it all. I give all glory to God for the foundation, growth, and future
of this church.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor
in vain.” — Psalm 127:1
